He has experience in performing some of the most intensive surgical procedures such as:
- Elective and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery
- Total ankle replacement, ankle arthroscopic surgery
- Foot and ankle trauma surgery
- Sports medicine and surgery
- Foot and ankle cartilage transplantation
- Diabetic Charcot foot and ankle reconstruction, management and salvage
- External fixation of the foot and leg
- Infant and children’s (pediatric) foot and ankle disorders
He has also developed two surgical procedures: 1st metatarsophalangeal joint interpositional arthroplasty using a meniscus allograft for the treatment of advanced hallux rigidus and weave augmentation reconstruction of the anterior
talofibular ligament for primary lateral ankle stabilization using suture bone anchors (publication pending).
Dr. De La Cruz is values education and enjoys advancing his fellow rising podiatric physicians through lecturing, authoring publications, and consulting. He embraces the evolving nature of podiatry and shows his personal commitment through continuous attendance of podiatric workshops and courses.
In addition to education, Dr. De La Cruz loves to give back through philanthropic work. He has been involved in charitable efforts such as surgical mission trips to his home of Kiamba, Philippines in 2000, 2003, and 2008. In these missions, he volunteers to provide surgical and clinical care to rural, destitute communities who have little to no access to health care. In Minnesota, Dr. De La Cruz has participated in an annual foot and screening event, known as Soles 4 Souls, in which shoes are donated and distributed to the local economically unfavored and homeless population.
Outside of medicine, some of his interests include cycling, running, scuba diving, traveling, cheering on the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights, and spending time with his beautiful wife Lisa and their lovely daughters Payton and Arielle.
Dr. De La Cruz is dedicated in providing the best care while implementing innovative methods in surgery as well as conservative treatments. In addition, he is devoted to making the needs of his patients top priority and works as hard as he can to ensure a complete recovery.
